Falling for Off the Shoulder

062016-Off-the-Shoulder-v 3

Lately, I’m obsessed with the off-the-shoulder look.

I’m not sure if my infatuation is genuine or purely because I’m can’t escape it. These days, pretty much everyone is either selling it or wearing it (and looking super fabulous, by the way.) Some think the trend may already be on its way out. I mean it is available at Barney’s, Banana Republic, and pretty much everywhere in between. (I’m looking at you, TJ Maxx.) I kind of hope so, because this trend looks horrible on me. A-W-F-U-L! No matter how hard I try (or how many times I make a hopeful purchase in vain), I end up with buyer’s remorse and a mini-meltdown in front of the mirror. “Why doesn’t this look right?! Why can’t I show off my collarbones and shoulders like everyone else!?”

I can’t quite pinpoint why this “looks great on everyone” trend looks so wrong on me, but – trust me, it does.

My only consolation is that it may soon be over. Until then, I have to live with the pain of seeing girl after girl slaying in her off-the-shoulder top, dress, romper, whatever. And, I have a feeling this will haunt me ALL summer. (Seriously, it is like seeing “the one that got away” deliriously happy with basically every other woman on the street!! GEEZ. I will be SO glad when this is over!!)

For now, I’ll just have to live my dreams through my doodles. Which version do you prefer?
